In 2013, actress Emelia Brobbey faced legal trouble in the UK, and after 11 years, some individuals are now revisiting the situation, accusing her of treating the person affected by her actions unfairly. The incident reportedly involved Emelia’s friend, Akua Agyeiwaa, who was wrongfully arrested and deported due to the circumstances surrounding Emelia’s theft case.
The issue arose when Emelia, who had traveled to the UK to give birth, went shopping for baby items and allegedly stole a bracelet by hiding it in a baby trolley. When she was caught at the store, Emelia provided the police with Akua’s address. During a search of Akua’s residence, authorities discovered that Akua lacked proper documentation, leading to her arrest, imprisonment, and deportation.
In 2024, Akua’s family and friends voiced their frustrations on social media, feeling that Emelia abandoned her friend during the ordeal. They claimed that Emelia’s partner had given £3,500 to compensate Akua, but Emelia allegedly used the money for her movie project instead. Akua’s family was particularly upset when Emelia’s camp claimed she had compensated Akua with money and an apartment, which they denied, saying Emelia didn’t even know where Akua lived in Ghana.
Akua’s brother, who works in UK security, asserted that he had recordings of Emelia admitting to the theft, contradicting her earlier claims that the bracelet had accidentally fallen into the trolley. He threatened to release the recordings if Emelia’s camp continued making false statements.
In response to the renewed controversy, Emelia released a diss track titled “Nsem Keka” and took to social media, indicating her resolve to stand against anyone who speaks against her. She also referenced a famous biblical line, stating, “Let the one free of all wrongs be the first to cast a stone.”
